Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) is engaging a Field Assistant through its Department of Environmental Sciences at Srinagar Garhwal. The role supports an Integrated Eco-Development Research Programme study sanctioned by the G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment. If you are comfortable working outdoors and staying at field sites, this project offers direct exposure to environmental and community-based research in Uttarakhand.

The study examines how river rafting and camping affect the environment, local livelihoods, culture and rural landscapes along the sacred Ganga in the Garhwal Himalaya. Your work will help the research team build evidence from primary and secondary data collected across the study area. This is a hands-on support role rather than a desk-only assignment, so you should be ready for regular travel within project locations and careful handling of field information.

Because the project connects environmental observations with socio-economic and cultural information, field records need to remain consistent across locations. You may help the team organize observations from river-use and camping areas alongside information from adjoining rural communities. Careful notes and dependable field coordination will make it easier for the researchers to compare sites and understand how tourism activity interacts with the Garhwal landscape.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The engagement is purely project-based and temporary. It continues only for the remaining period of the funded project.
• Field stay: You may need to stay at study locations during the project, depending on the sampling and data-collection schedule.
• Interview communication: HNBGU will email the exact interview schedule to shortlisted applicants. The interaction may be held offline or online.
• Employed applicants: If you already work elsewhere, you must produce a No Objection Certificate from your employer.
• Travel support: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview or completing document checks.
• Original records: Keep your original academic and supporting records ready for verification when HNBGU asks you to attend.
