IIT BHU Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi is recruiting a Project Assistant for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project in its School of Biochemical Engineering. The Early Career Research Grant project studies how metabolic engineering and bioprocess design can improve sustainable succinic-acid production using the yeast Komagataella phaffi. This is an interdisciplinary laboratory role where biotechnology, microbial engineering and process optimisation meet, so it suits you if you want hands-on research experience rather than a routine administrative assignment. The appointment is tied to the sponsored project, with the principal investigator supervising the work and assessing continued performance.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The first appointment is for eleven months and may be extended, subject to satisfactory work and available project funds, up to the project's remaining term of thirty-two months.
• Temporary status: This is a project-linked engagement and does not create a claim to a regular IIT (BHU) post.
• Interview arrangements: Shortlisted applicants may be interviewed online or at IIT (BHU) Varanasi. The institute will not pay travel or daily expenses for attending an in-person interview.
• Shortlisting: Meeting the basic qualification does not guarantee an interview call. Academic record, relevant laboratory exposure and the fit of your background with the project can be considered while preparing the shortlist.
• Appointment decision: The principal investigator may fill, modify or leave the position unfilled. Incomplete or late applications are not considered.
• Research setting: You should be comfortable working independently as well as with an interdisciplinary team, keeping reproducible records and contributing material for project reports and research publications.
