DCRT WB JJB Social Worker Member Recruitment 2026: Overview
Directorate of Child Rights and Trafficking, Government of West Bengal (DCRT WB) is selecting Social Worker Members for Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) in Hooghly and Jalpaiguri. These are appointments to district boards under the state's juvenile justice framework. You would serve on a bench alongside the Principal Magistrate and another Social Worker Member.
The notice places these appointments under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, its subsequent amendment and the related Model Rules. Its key focus is the social worker's place on the board, with a requirement for women's representation on the bench.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Board composition: Each bench includes a Principal Magistrate and two Social Worker Members. At least one of those members must be a woman.
- District-specific reservation: The Jalpaiguri opening is for women only. Keep this distinction in mind when considering the district you wish to serve.
- Working commitment: The board meets on every working day for at least six hours, following the working arrangements of a Magistrate Court. You should consider this regular attendance commitment before applying.
- Term limit: A Social Worker Member can be appointed for a maximum of two terms. The notice does not give the length of an individual term.
- Rights record: A past violation of human rights or child rights rules out appointment. The notice also bars anyone involved in child abuse, employing child labour or an immoral act.
- Conviction: A conviction involving moral turpitude is a disqualification unless it has been reversed or the person has received a full pardon for that offence.
- Previous service: Removal or dismissal from Central or State Government service, or from a government-owned or controlled undertaking or corporation, disqualifies you.
- Committee authority: The Selection Committee's decisions on matters concerning this recruitment are final.
