This is an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961, designed for local ITI certificate holders who want supervised, workplace-based trade exposure in a ship-repair setting. Posts and Disciplines

• Electrician: Learn to support electrical installation, inspection and routine maintenance work around the repair unit while following marine-yard safety controls.
• Fitter: Build practical experience in fitting, assembly, measurement and basic maintenance tasks connected with ship-repair operations.
• Welder: Work with supervised fabrication and welding activities, including preparation of work areas and safe handling of tools.
• Stenography and Secretarial Assistant: Support office communication, records, correspondence and day-to-day administrative coordination for the unit.

Post-wise Duties

Electrician, Fitter and Welder

You will learn your designated trade through practical work under unit supervision. Your daily work can include preparing tools, following job instructions, keeping work areas safe and recording the training completed. The exact assignment will depend on the facilities and current repair work available at CANSRU.

Stenography and Secretarial Assistant

You will support office records and communication, practise stenography and document preparation, and help keep administrative information organised. The role is training-focused, so you should be ready to learn the unit's systems and follow confidentiality rules.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Training tenure: The apprenticeship runs for one year under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
• Previous apprenticeship: You cannot join if you have already undergone apprenticeship training in another organisation for any duration under the Act.
• Domicile: You must be an Indian citizen domiciled in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
• Facilities: CSL will not provide boarding, lodging or travel expenses for certificate checks or the training period.
• Employment status: Completing the apprenticeship does not give you a right to a regular job at CSL or CANSRU.
• Training seats: The unit may change or leave seats unfilled depending on candidate suitability, training facilities and future needs.
• Communication: Shortlist and certificate-check updates are issued through your registered email and the CSL careers page; no call letter is sent by post.

Application Submission Notes

The CSL SAP portal uses one-time registration followed by the application for your chosen trade. Submit only one application and keep the soft copy or printout carrying the unique registration number, because CSL uses that number for later correspondence.

Upload clear proof of age, education, trade qualification, caste or disability where applicable, along with a recent colour photograph. Review your marks and entries carefully before final submission; the portal does not accept changes after the application is final. If you hold an equivalent qualification, attach the competent authority's equivalency certificate.
