CSIR-NIO Project Assistant-II Recruitment 2026: Overview
CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO) is engaging a Project Assistant-II for the CSIR JIGYASA programme at its Goa headquarters. JIGYASA connects students with scientists through workshops, demonstrations and science-awareness activities, and this role supports the digital and technical side of that outreach. It is a short project engagement with an unusually varied mix of web, media and field work.
The position is designed for someone who can move comfortably between digital content and hands-on demonstrations. Your electronics, computer science or IT background will support website updates, multimedia production and outreach technology, while photography and videography skills will help document programme activity.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Short tenure: The official vacancy page says the post will be filled for a period of a few months. Treat it as temporary project work rather than a route to a regular institute post.
- Base station: Your normal place of work is the CSIR-NIO headquarters in Goa, where the programme's web content and technical material are managed.
- Extensive travel: The work needs travel to different parts of India for student outreach programmes and related activities. You should be ready for schedules that extend beyond desk-based work in Goa.
- Marine field exposure: When the programme needs it, you may join ship- or boat-based sea trips to deploy, operate, test, demonstrate or document underwater robotic systems and connected outreach activities.
- Demonstration support: You will help with technology demonstrations involving drones and underwater robots during workshops, exhibitions and science-awareness events. This calls for careful handling, clear explanations and attention to safety instructions.
- Digital ownership: The role covers the JIGYASA website and related digital material, including updates, maintenance and content organisation. Database handling, programming or multimedia ability can make you more effective in this part of the assignment.
- Creative production: Animation, educational video editing, photography and videography are relevant because the programme turns scientific work into material students can understand. You should be comfortable producing content as well as supporting live events.
- Online application route: The institute provides a specific application link from the vacancy page. Use only the official CSIR-NIO route and check that your qualification and skill details are complete before sending the form.
This Project Assistant-II role is broader than routine computer support. It combines public-facing science communication, website operations, media creation and technical assistance in settings that can range from a workshop venue to a research vessel.
