BHU Project Research Scientist II Recruitment 2026: Overview
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is hiring a Project Research Scientist-II (Non-Medical) for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded study at its Centre of Experimental Medicine & Surgery. The project focuses on improving molecular diagnosis and treatment monitoring for Post Kala-azar Dermal Leishmaniasis, under Dr. Rajiv Kumar.
The study sits within the Institute of Medical Sciences in Varanasi and carries project code P-14/0824. Your engagement is tied to this research project, with a field-site commitment as well as the university base.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project-linked post: This is a temporary research engagement that ends with the project. It does not carry a promise of continuing beyond the study.
- Initial tenure: The contract can run for up to one year. It may be extended up to three years, depending on the project requirement and the principal investigator’s review of your performance.
- Field commitment: You must be prepared for extensive travel to the Kala-azar Medical Research Centre in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. You may also need to stay at that field site when the project needs you there.
- Reservation policy: Government of India rules govern reservation and concessions in qualifying marks for this recruitment.
- Interview travel: BHU will not pay travel or daily allowance if you are called for interview.

पात्रता मानदंड
न्यूनतम योग्यता
First-class PG (including integrated PG) in Applied Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Life Sciences, Microbiology or Zoology with three years of experience or a PhD in the relevant subject; alternatively, second-class PG in these subjects with a PhD and three years of experience.
वांछित योग्यता
Prior experience in Leishmania research or molecular biology is preferred.
