BHU Computer Center Multi-Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the central university in Varanasi, is filling regular non-teaching posts at its Computer Center under Advertisement No. 03/2026-2027. The drive mixes two senior Group A technical jobs — a System Engineer and a Maintenance Engineer (Junior) — with Group C jobs for computer operators, AC plant operators and attendants.

Most of these posts were advertised earlier, in 2018-19 and 2023-24, but the selections never took place, so BHU has cancelled those adverts and is starting fresh. Whether you hold an ITI certificate or an M.Tech, there is a post here that matches your level.

Posts and Disciplines

System Engineer (CC001, Group A): the senior IT post, aimed at people with server configuration, storage, backup, Linux/Unix, database and computer network experience at an industry or university-level computer centre.
Maintenance Engineer (Junior) (CC002, Group A): for electronics or computer engineers who have looked after campus-wide networks, computer hardware, large UPS systems and centralised air-conditioning plants.
Computer Operator Gr.-I (CC003, Group C): for B.Sc Computer Science graduates, BCA holders, or B.Sc graduates with a PGDCA.
AC Operator (CC004, Group C): for ITI (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) holders who have operated large AC plants, including VRV systems above 500 TR.
Laboratory Attendant (CC005, Group C): for science intermediates who have done a short computer hardware course.
Workshop Attendant (CC006, Group C): for Class 10 pass candidates with an ITI in Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Welder or Wireman trade and some trade experience.

Reservation for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates follows Government of India policy. If no suitable candidate of the advertised disability category is available, BHU may fill that post with another identified PwBD category.

Service Conditions and Caveats

Weightage for BHU contract staff: Daily-wage and contractual workers of BHU get 4% extra marks for each year of service (at least 240 days a year for daily wagers), up to a ceiling of 20%, in every assessment for the Group C posts — provided they meet the qualification and experience rules.
Working applicants: If you are employed, route your application through proper channel or attach a No Objection Certificate from your employer.
Shortlisting: If many people apply, BHU may set its own shortlisting criteria such as higher qualifications or more relevant experience.
Panel and future vacancies: The number of posts can change, and BHU may fill later vacancies from the same panel of candidates.
Private-sector experience (Workshop Attendant): Trade experience in a private company counts only if its annual turnover is Rs. 50 crore or more.
Document checks: BHU can verify your papers at any time, even after you join; fake documents or hidden facts lead to termination.
Canvassing: Any form of canvassing disqualifies you.

Application Submission Notes

First register on the Recruitment & Assessment Cell (RAC) portal on the BHU website, then fill the online form tab by tab. Keep a JPEG photo and signature of up to 50 KB each ready. After paying the fee online, download the form and send the hard copy with all enclosures to The Registrar, Recruitment & Assessment Cell, Holkar House, BHU, Varanasi - 221005 (U.P.) by 30 November 2026, 5:00 p.m.

For technical problems with the online form, write to recruitment@bhu.ac.in. No changes are possible after final submission, so check every entry first.

Corrigenda and Notices

Old advertisements withdrawn: System Engineer and Junior Maintenance/Networking Engineer under Advt. No. 20/2023-2024, and Laboratory Attendant, Workshop Attendant, AC Operator and Computer Operator Grade-I under Advt. No. 06/2018-2019, are now cancelled. If you paid a fee for those, email ar.rac@bhu.ac.in with the post, transaction ID and bank details to claim a refund.

BHU will hold a written test and a skill test for these posts. The syllabus for both will be announced later by the university, so keep checking the RAC page on the BHU website.

Weightage: If you have worked at BHU as a daily-wage or contractual employee, you get 4% extra marks per year of service, up to 20%, in the written and skill tests for the Group C posts.
