BEE Deputy Director General Technical Recruitment 2026: Overview

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, is recruiting a Deputy Director General (Technical) for the National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE). BEE serves as the Mission Directorate, and this project-sanctioned position is offered on deputation or short-term contract.

The role supports Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT), a market-based system for energy-intensive industries. The scheme links energy savings with tradable certificates, helping designated consumers meet their obligations and giving them an incentive to improve further.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial posting: You will be based in Delhi. The notice also allows posting anywhere in India.
• Tenure: Deputation or contract normally cannot exceed five years. This limit includes a deputation or contract in an outside-cadre post held immediately before this appointment in the same or another Central Government organisation or department.
• Administrative decision: BEE may reject applications or cancel the recruitment at any stage for administrative reasons.

Employer forwarding matters: the prescribed form includes an employer countersignature and a certificate from the employer, head of office or forwarding authority. BEE will not consider an application that is outside the prescribed format or lacks the required supporting material.

• Develop energy consumption norms with sector associations and research institutions.
• Analyse annual energy consumption reports and establish baselines for designated consumers.
• Check specific energy consumption data and expand coverage to additional sectors.
• Support energy savings certificate issuance, trading, compliance and accounting arrangements.
• Build the Mission Directorate database and working relationships with stakeholders.
• Track energy-saving technologies and share relevant best practices and case studies.
• Coordinate with ministries, state governments, designated agencies and manufacturers’ associations.
