RITES GGM and GM Civil Recruitment 2026: Overview

RITES Limited, a Navratna enterprise of the Government of India under the Ministry of Railways, wants one senior civil engineering officer from Indian Railways to join its projects on deputation. The opening is for Group General Manager / General Manager (Civil) under Vacancy Circular No. 24/26 (D), and the officer will be based at Guwahati. This is not open to the general public — only serving officers of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) at the Selection Grade, Non-Functional SAG or SAG level can apply, and only through the Railway Board.

RITES says this is the first reference it has made for this post. The circular has gone to every zonal railway, production unit and RDSO, with a request to put it on each railway's website so that eligible officers hear about it in time.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Designation depends on your grade: Selection Grade officers with fewer than 18 years of Group A service join as General Manager (Civil). Selection Grade officers with 18 years of Group A service, and NF-SAG or SAG officers, join as Group General Manager (Civil).
• Location: The post starts at Guwahati, but RITES can post you anywhere in India or abroad as the work demands.
• Tenure: The normal deputation term is three years, and it can be extended depending on requirement and performance.
• Pay terms: You keep your parent pay plus deputation allowance and the other perks allowed on deputation under Railway Board guidelines.
• Housing: RITES provides company or leased accommodation as per your entitlement.
• Absorption exemption: The Ministry of Railways has exempted RITES from the rule of immediate absorption for officers on deputation, for three years beyond 31 August 2023.
• Merit list: Officers are scored on qualification, vigilance record, APAR grading and an interview, and only those scoring 60% or more make the merit list.
• No extensions: RITES will not consider any request from you or your organisation to extend the time limit.

Application Submission Notes

First register online in the Career section of the RITES website. The system prints a Registration No. at the top of your form; print and sign that form and attach it to your application in the Annexure-III format along with a detailed CV.

Your Head of Department must then forward the application through the Railway Board with a No Objection, vigilance and D&AR clearance, details of any penalties and your APARs for the last five years. Also email an advance copy with your CV to kapil.soni3@rites.com for RITES's records — but an advance copy on its own will not be considered if the forwarded application and documents do not arrive in time.
