EIL Associate Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Engineers India Limited (EIL), the Navratna engineering consultancy under the Government of India, is hiring experienced construction staff for its Construction Division. The people selected will work on the Dangote Fertiliser Projects in Nigeria and Ethiopia, so this drive is mainly about site work abroad. It is a fixed-term engagement, not a regular EIL job — you sign on for a set period tied to the project. If you have spent years on refinery, petrochemical, fertiliser, power or nuclear plant construction, this is aimed squarely at you.

Selection works like a walk-in interview with online registration first. You register on the EIL portal, and EIL later emails you the exact date and office for your interview. Interviews run at the Gurugram, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata offices of EIL.

Posts and Disciplines

• Associate Engineer Grade II (Code A): the entry-level engineer role for site construction, open to Civil, Mechanical, Welding/NDT, Electrical and Instrumentation graduates with mid-level site experience.
• Associate Engineer Grade III (Code B): the largest group in this drive, covering the same five disciplines for engineers with longer construction careers.
• Associate Engineer Grade IV (Code C): the senior engineer role for people who have handled plant construction for well over a decade.
• Associate Officer Grade II (Codes D1, D2 and D3): a materials management role. Arts, commerce or science graduates, engineering diploma holders and engineering graduates can all apply, as long as they also hold a diploma in Material Management.

Welding/NDT applicants need a Mechanical Engineering degree plus an ASNT or ISNT Level-II certificate in RT, UT, DPT or MPT.

Post-wise Duties

Associate Engineer (Grades II, III and IV)

You will look after construction work at EIL's overseas fertiliser plant sites in your own discipline — civil works, mechanical erection, welding and NDT checks, electrical systems or instrumentation. Senior grades are expected to take on more of the site responsibility.

Associate Officer Grade II

You will support the materials side of construction on site — the work that a diploma in Material Management prepares you for, such as keeping track of materials that the plant construction needs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement starts at 2 years and can be stretched by 1 more year if needed, or ends when the assignment finishes, whichever comes first. The maximum is 3 years from your joining date.
• No regular job claim: Working on fixed term does not give you any right to a regular post in EIL.
• Posting: Mainly at foreign construction sites, but EIL can post you anywhere in India or abroad as needed.
• Foreign posting benefits: While abroad you get a living allowance, R&R and other allowances under company rules.
• Medical fitness: You can join only if you are found medically fit.
• One post only: You can apply for just one position in this advertisement. If you apply more than once, only your latest application counts.
• Urgent joining: EIL says the need is urgent, so selected candidates must join at the earliest.
• Travel and stay: You pay your own way to the interview. If interviews run late into the night or spill to the next day, you arrange your own stay.
• Marks rounding: Round your percentage down to the whole number (60.9 becomes 60) and CGPA down to one decimal (6.95 becomes 6.9) when filling the form.
