KGMU Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow is filling Senior Resident (Un-registered) seats through a short-term walk-in interview run by the Office of the Medical Superintendent, Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals. The seats are spread across six clinical and para-clinical departments, with the biggest share in chest medicine and anaesthesiology.

This is a short-term residency, not a permanent faculty job. It suits doctors holding an MD, MS or DNB who want senior residency experience in the university's Lucknow teaching hospitals. The seat count can still change, because the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME), UP adjusts seats for doctors serving the compulsory government service bond.

Posts and Disciplines

• P.C.C.M. (Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine): residency seats in the chest and critical care department.
• Anaesthesiology: seats in the main anaesthesiology department.
• Cardiac Anaesthesia: seats in the cardiac anaesthesia unit.
• Neuro-Anaesthesia: seats in the neuro-anaesthesia unit.
• Forensic Medicine: seats in the medico-legal and autopsy department.
• Radio-diagnosis: seats in the imaging and radiology department.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Seat changes: Seats may vary as per further DGME UP adjustment under the compulsory Govt. Service Bond (G.O. No. 950/71-2-82/2017 dated 7 March 2018), and the number of posts may rise or fall at the interview.
• Reservation: Reservation follows UP Government rules and only UP domicile holders get its benefit. Reserved-category candidates from other states are treated as unreserved.
• Category certificate: Use the State Government's prescribed format; an OBC certificate must be less than six months old.
• Registration: State Medical Registration is mandatory before joining if you are selected.
• Affidavits: At joining, you must give affidavits on Rs. 10 e-stamp paper (Annexures 1 and 2) about your previous experience and caste certificate, and declaring that you are not studying elsewhere or running a private practice.
• Employed candidates: Get your application forwarded by your head of institution or attach a No Objection Certificate.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview, and the Vice Chancellor may cancel the advertisement in part or whole.

Download the application form attached to the notice on the KGMU website, fill it in and submit it with self-certified document copies at the Office of the Medical Superintendent before the last date. Pay the walk-in fee by deposit into the University Income Fund account at Indian Bank, KGMU, Lucknow (A/c 20229846433, IFSC IDIB000K656).

The walk-in interview is on 23 October 2026 at the Committee Hall, Medical Superintendent Office, G.M. and A.H., KGMU, Lucknow. Report by 1:30 PM; interviews start at 2:00 PM. Bring one set of photocopies of all certificates plus the originals for verification.
