SU Sociology Guest Faculty Recruitment 2026

Sambalpur University is engaging Guest Faculty (Assistant Professor) in the P.G. Department of Sociology. If you meet UGC Guidelines 2018, or have a strong postgraduate record when Ph.D./NET candidates are not available, you can attend the walk-in interview. The walk-in interview and document verification will be held on 23 June 2026 at Sambalpur University, Jyoti Vihar. Payment can go up to Rs. 60,000 per month for Ph.D. candidates and up to Rs. 45,000 per month for other eligible guest faculty, based on classes taken.

Sambalpur University has issued a notice dated 08 June 2026 for engagement of Guest Faculty at the postgraduate level in Sociology. The engagement is a temporary teaching arrangement for six months or until regular recruitment is completed, whichever happens earlier. There is no written exam; you need to report for document verification and appear for the interview at the department.

The work is mainly for teaching postgraduate Sociology classes, but the notice also mentions academic duties like examination work, research guidance and departmental assignments. The continuation of the engagement depends on satisfactory quarterly review. Retired faculty can continue teaching up to 70 years of age, subject to review.

Age Limit

Honorarium

• Assistant Professor Guest Faculty with Ph.D.: Rs. 1,000 per class, up to 60 classes per month, with maximum payment of Rs. 60,000 per month.
• Assistant Professor Guest Faculty without Ph.D.: Rs. 750 per class, up to 60 classes per month, with maximum payment of Rs. 45,000 per month.
• Administrative work note: If more than 40 classes are taken in a month, administrative assignment may be given from the next month.

The payment is based on the number of classes taken, so it should not be read as a fixed monthly salary for every person. The maximum amount applies only when the class count reaches the stated ceiling of 60 classes per month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
