SMOI Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI), set up by the Central Silk Board under the Ministry of Textiles, is hiring Young Professionals – Extension Services on a contract basis for its regional chapters. SMOI runs the Silk Mark quality label that tells buyers a product is made of pure silk, and these young professionals support its outreach work in the field.

The engagement runs from the date you join until 31 March 2029, so this is a multi-year contract rather than a short project post. It suits a young graduate or diploma holder — especially from textiles, sericulture or agriculture — who wants field experience with a central government body and is happy to travel within their state.

Posts and Disciplines

All posts are the same role, but each is tied to one SMOI chapter and the area it covers:

• Bengaluru (SMOI Central Office): covers Karnataka.
• Chennai: covers Tamil Nadu.
• Hyderabad: covers Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
• Mumbai: covers Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
• Palakkad: covers Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
• Kolkata: covers West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• State link: Candidates from the state concerned are eligible for that chapter's vacancies. You can apply for one chapter only.
• Local language: Preference goes to candidates who can read, write and speak the local language; choose your state in the form based on the languages you know.
• No regular job: The contract gives you no right to a regular or temporary post at SMOI later, and it can be ended at any time without notice.
• Performance review: Your work is assessed from time to time, and unsatisfactory performance or unauthorised absence can end the contract.
• Working days and leave: The office works Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with extra hours when needed. You get all SMOI holidays plus eight days of leave a year.
• Travel: You must be ready to tour the areas under your chapter. TA/DA is paid for official tours by rail or bus, with hotel and conveyance on par with the Level-3 cadre, but not for the interview, joining or leaving.
• Joining: You get a maximum of 30 days to join after the offer letter is emailed. Working candidates must bring an NOC or relieving letter.
