MDACS Deputy Director and Assistant Director Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mumbai Districts AIDS Control Society (MDACS), the autonomous body set up by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to prevent and control HIV/AIDS in Mumbai, is filling senior programme and field-cluster posts at its Wadala office. The roles run its prevention, testing, care and treatment, surveillance and parent-to-child transmission work under the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP-IV), plus two field-cluster posts. All posts are contractual, and people already working in HIV/AIDS programmes get preference for most of them.

Posts and Disciplines

• Deputy Director (Prevention): for Masters in Social Work, Public Health or Health Care Administration holders with long HIV/AIDS programme experience at state or national level.
• Deputy Director (ICTC/BSD): leads the HIV counselling and testing, early infant diagnosis and elimination-of-vertical-transmission services; open to medical graduates and to Masters holders in public health, health management, psychology, social work, sociology or microbiology.
• Deputy Director (CST): heads the care, support and treatment side; for medical science graduates or public health and social science postgraduates with health-sector experience.
• Assistant Director (Prevention): a junior prevention role for MSW, public health or health administration postgraduates who have worked with community and civil-society groups.
• Assistant Director (SI): the Strategic Information post, covering surveillance, research, M&E and epidemiology; SPSS and biostatistics skills are part of the essential profile.
• Assistant Director (PPTCT): the prevention-of-parent-to-child-transmission post, for postgraduates in psychology, social work, sociology or microbiology.
• Cluster Program Manager: supervises a cluster of field programmes; needs supervisory experience in a state or district health programme.
• Cluster Prevention Officer: a field-facing prevention post for Masters holders in social sciences, public health or management with supervisory health-programme experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract and probation: the first appointment runs up to 31 March 2027 as a probation period; any extension depends only on your performance.
• MS-CIT certificate: compulsory for every post. If you do not have it yet, you get one year to complete the course.
• Age rule for current staff: the common upper age limit is waived for people already working with MDACS who meet the qualification and experience.
• Who cannot apply: anyone discontinued for poor performance, anyone facing or punished in disciplinary action, and anyone who has left an AIDS Control Society.
• Field travel: the cluster posts expect you to travel extensively and to speak and write the local language and English well.
• Changes: the Project Director can cancel the recruitment or change the number of posts.
• Canvassing: any canvassing leads to disqualification.
