Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has released Employment Notification No. CO/P-R/03/2026 for 5 Junior Scale Executive (Group-B) posts across three engineering disciplines — Civil, Mechanical, and Signal & Telecom. Selection is entirely based on your GATE score, so there's no separate written exam. Serving KRCL employees with at least 3 years of regular service can also apply, with a relaxed upper age limit.

Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Engineer (Civil):

• You need an AICTE-recognized Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 60% marks (50% for ST candidates).
• A valid GATE score in Civil Engineering (GATE Code-CE) from 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 is compulsory.

For Assistant Mechanical Engineer:

• You need a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks.
• A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering (GATE Code-ME) from 2023-2026 is compulsory.

For Assistant Signal & Telecom Engineer:

• You need a Bachelor's Degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Communication, Communication, Electrical & Electronics, or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, with at least 60% marks.
• A valid GATE score in Electronics and Communication Engineering (GATE Code-EC) from 2023-2026 is compulsory.

• Your qualification must be from a recognized Government University, a UGC-recognized institution, or an AICTE-approved course from an autonomous institute — private, open, or distance-education courses are not eligible.
• If your marksheet shows CGPA or a letter grade, convert it to a percentage using your university's official formula and attach proof of the same.
• KRCL Employees: Serving employees with at least 3 years of regular service can also apply, subject to D&AR and Vigilance clearance.

Age Limit

• You should be between 18 and 30 years old as on 1 August 2026.
• Age Relaxation: ST candidates get 5 years (up to 35 years); OBC-NCL candidates get 3 years (up to 33 years).
• Serving KRCL Employees (minimum 3 years of regular service) get a higher relaxed limit — up to 45 years (UR), 48 years (OBC-NCL) or 50 years (ST).
• SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates applying against Unreserved (UR) vacancies do not get any age relaxation.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary under 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-8, Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA and other allowances as per KRCL rules.

Application Fee

• All candidates: Rs. 1,180 (Rs. 1,000 examination fee + 18% GST), plus payment gateway charges if any.
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / Female / Minorities / EBC: Same fee applies, but it is fully refunded (minus bank charges) if you appear in the selection process.
• EBC (Economically Backward Class): If your annual family income is below Rs. 50,000, you can submit a valid income certificate or BPL card to claim this concession.

Selection Process

KRCL will select candidates in the following stages:

1. GATE Score Shortlisting: Candidates up to 10 times the notified vacancies per category are shortlisted based on their valid GATE score.
2. Document Verification (DV): Only candidates who qualify document verification move to further stages.
3. Presentation on a Given Topic: Worth 25% of your total marks; you need at least 60% to qualify.
4. Personal Interview: Worth 25% of your total marks; you need at least 60% to qualify.
5. Medical Examination: You must meet KRCL's medical and vision standards for the post.

Your final merit is based on GATE Score (50%) + Presentation (25%) + Interview (25%). A standby panel is also prepared and stays valid for 1 year from the date of results, and can be used to fill vacancies that arise during that period. SC/ST candidates also get a free Sleeper Class railway pass to travel for the selection process, on submission of their community certificate.
