IISER Tirupati JRF / Project Associate-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is hiring one Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate-I for a chemistry research project funded under the STARS scheme of the Government of India. The project is led by Dr. Jatishkumar and carries project code 30523158.

The research is about chiral light emission — finding how the structure of functional molecules and their supramolecular assemblies controls how strongly they give out circularly polarised light. The long-term aim is to build circularly polarised organic light emitting devices (CP-OLEDs). This is a project engagement on a purely contract basis, so it suits an M.Sc Chemistry graduate who wants hands-on research experience in materials and molecular chemistry.

The notice gives preference to candidates who have already worked on organic or nanoparticle synthesis and self-assembly. A big plus: if you are selected, you can also apply for the regular PhD programme of IISER Tirupati, as long as you meet its eligibility rules.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The first offer is for four months only. The post is temporary and ends with the research project, without notice or compensation.
• Two pay tiers: The higher fellowship is for candidates holding a valid CSIR / UGC-JRF, NET, GATE or another national-level test run by a central government department. Everyone else is paid on the lower tier.
• No absorption: You get no claim to a regular job at IISER Tirupati or with the funding agency after the project.
• Results pending: Candidates still waiting for final exam results should not apply — the degree must be in hand by the closing date.
• Shortlisting: A Screening Committee may call only candidates with qualifications or experience above the minimum, so mention all of your relevant work in the form.
• Joining and travel: Selected candidates must join immediately after the offer, and no TA/DA is paid for the interview.
• Post count: The institute says the number of posts may go up or down as per its needs.
