ICAR-CIRCOT Young Professional-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, an institute of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), is hiring Young Professional-I (YP-I) staff for its State-wise Ginning Outturn (GOT) study — the project that measures how much lint cotton comes out of seed cotton in different growing regions. The posts are spread over seven centres in six states, from Nagpur and Mumbai to Guntur, Coimbatore, Dharwad, Sirsa and Surat.

This is a purely temporary, contractual engagement tied to the project, not a regular ICAR job. Graduates in science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, commerce or IT, and three-year engineering diploma holders, can apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• GTC Nagpur (Maharashtra): YP-I posts at the institute's Ginning Training Centre; interviews for these posts are held at GTC Nagpur.
• Regional units — Guntur, Coimbatore, Dharwad, Sirsa and Surat: field-centre posts in the major cotton belts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana and Gujarat.
• Mumbai headquarters: YP-I posts at the main institute at Matunga; these run longer than the regional posts.
• Commerce and IT graduates: need a minimum of 60% marks in graduation; commerce graduates also need one year of relevant experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Nagpur, Surat, Sirsa, Guntur, Dharwad and Coimbatore posts run from 1 November 2026 to 31 March 2027; Mumbai posts run from 1 November 2026 to 30 September 2027. Continuation depends on satisfactory performance as judged by the Director.
• Posting: You may be posted at any regional unit of the institute, not only the centre you applied for.
• Not a regular job: The engagement does not give you any claim to a regular ICAR appointment.
• Working hours and absence: Same hours as regular ICAR staff with no extra pay for overtime; 8 days of unauthorised absence in a row ends the engagement automatically.
• Leave: 8 days casual leave a year (pro-rata) plus 2 restricted holidays, compensatory leave for holiday duty (up to 5 days banked), and maternity leave for women; there is no paternity leave.
• Secrecy: You sign a declaration of secrecy and a Non-Disclosure Agreement (Annexure-I) before joining.
• Travel: No TA/DA for attending the interview, but official tours during the engagement are paid as per ICAR rules.
• Employed candidates: Bring a No Objection Certificate from your current employer.
• Tax and conduct: Income tax is deducted at source, and any canvassing disqualifies you; breaking the Standards of Conduct can end the engagement without notice.
