HPPSC Scientific Officer (Digital Forensic) Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is recruiting a Scientific Officer (Digital Forensic), a Group-B post in the Directorate of Forensic Services under the state's Department of Home, through Advertisement No. 68/10-2026. The selected person joins as a Job Trainee on a fixed monthly amount, under the Himachal Pradesh Department of Personnel's scheme for engaging job trainees in state departments.

The post suits you if you hold a master's in forensic science, cyber forensics, physics, computer applications or electronics and have already spent a few years in research, training or analytical work after that degree. HPPSC has also advertised the senior Assistant Director (Digital Forensic) post for the same Directorate under Advertisement No. 67/10-2026, which asks for much longer experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Job Trainee engagement: Your engagement follows the state's job trainee scheme on a fixed amount and every later order issued under it.
• Unreserved post: The post is open to all categories. Reservation benefits apply only to bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh, and reserved-category candidates from other states are treated as General.
• Age relaxation: The notice allows upper-age relaxation for Himachal SC, ST, OBC, WFF and disabled candidates only when a post is reserved for them, and this post is not.
• How experience is counted: Only experience gained after your qualifying degree counts, and the certificate must be signed by your Research Supervisor or the Head of the Organisation or Department.
• Ph.D. research: Research done specifically for a Ph.D. counts toward the required experience, which helps if you are finishing or have finished a doctorate.
• Eligibility cut-off: Your qualification and experience are judged as on the closing date of the online application.
• Serving employees: Regular government employees must produce a No Objection Certificate to take part in the personality test and document check. Contract, casual, ad hoc and daily-rated staff do not need one.
• Exam rules: HPPSC exams fall under the Himachal Pradesh Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2025, and misconduct can bring a ban of up to 15 years.
• Exam city and interview: The written test centre is Shimla, and the personality test is held only at the Commission's office in Shimla.
• Disqualification: You cannot apply if you were dismissed from government service, convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude, or are an undischarged insolvent.
