HBCHRC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC), New Chandigarh — a unit of the Tata Memorial Centre under the Department of Atomic Energy — is holding a walk-in interview for a Research Assistant. The job is on a contract (FTA) basis, so there is no written exam and no online form: you simply turn up with your documents on the interview day.

The post is open to postgraduates from a wide mix of fields — science, management, engineering, public health, administration and statistics — as long as you also hold a six-month computer course certificate. That computer course is compulsory, not optional. The hospital would prefer someone who already understands clinical research and its rules and is comfortable with MS Office and AI tools, which makes this a good first step for anyone who wants to build a career in cancer research administration.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement lasts six months from the date you join. It is purely temporary and can be ended at any time without notice.
• Place of work: You may be rotated between HBCH Sangrur and HBCH&RC New Chandigarh, depending on what the centre needs.
• Accommodation: Provided only if available — do not count on it.
• Cut-off for age and experience: Both are counted as on the day of the walk-in interview.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can attend.
• Shortlisting: The hospital may set a minimum benchmark (for example, marks in your degree) and limit how many candidates it interviews. Meeting the basic qualification does not guarantee an interview.
• Canvassing: Any attempt to influence the selection gets you disqualified.
• Legal disputes: These fall under the courts at SAS Nagar (Mohali), Punjab.
