CUK Professor and Associate Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Central University of Kerala (CUK), a central university set up by an Act of Parliament in 2009 at Periye, Kasaragod, is filling backlog Professor and Associate Professor posts in the second phase of its rolling advertisements BL1 and BL2 dated 1 January 2026. Every post is reserved — BL1 covers backlog SC, ST and OBC posts, and BL2 covers backlog posts for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). These are regular faculty posts, so this phase is a second chance for senior academics from these groups who missed or could not clear Phase I.

Posts and Disciplines

Backlog SC / ST / OBC posts (BL1)

• Professor, Tourism Studies: reserved for SC (notification CUK/T/BL1/01/2026).
• Professor, Social Work: reserved for ST (CUK/T/BL1/03/2026).
• Professor, Public Administration and Policy Studies: reserved for OBC (CUK/T/BL1/05/2026).
• Associate Professor, Public Health and Community Medicine: reserved for ST (CUK/T/BL1/07/2026).
• Associate Professor, Kannada: reserved for ST (CUK/T/BL1/08/2026).

Backlog PwBD posts (BL2)

• Professor, English and Comparative Literature: for category (c) — locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy (CUK/T/BL/PwBD/01/2026).
• Associate Professor, Hindi: for category (a) — blindness and low vision (CUK/T/BL/PwBD/02/2026).
• Associate Professor, Kannada: for category (b) — deaf and hard of hearing (CUK/T/BL/PwBD/03/2026).

Write the exact notification number of your post on the envelope of the hard copy.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Phase I applicants: if you already applied under BL1 or BL2 in Phase I, you need not apply again — just send the hard copy if you have not sent it. Apply afresh only if you want to add a qualification gained since then.
• PwBD posts: you need a disability of at least 40%; conditions listed as likely to improve under temporary disability are not eligible. If no suitable candidate is found in the notified category, the post can be exchanged with other PwBD categories, so candidates of any PwBD category may apply.
• UGC norms: qualifications follow the UGC Regulations 2018, and they are counted as on the online closing date. Experience certificates must meet Clause 10 of the 2018 Regulations; offer letters or joining reports are not accepted as proof.
• Shortlisting: the University can limit interview calls to candidates with higher qualifications or experience, and may add a seminar, colloquium or teaching session to the interview.
• Working candidates: you need an NOC or endorsement from your employer; without it you cannot attend the interview.
• Interview travel: outstation SC, ST and PwBD candidates (beyond 30 km) get a second-class railway fare, unless already in Central or State Government service.
• After selection: you sign a stamped and notarised Service Agreement, pass a medical fitness check and character verification, come under the National Pension System (NPS), and can be posted to any centre of the University with academic or administrative duties.

Apply online on the CU Chayan portal (curec.samarth.ac.in). Then send one hard copy of the form with self-attested, serially numbered copies of every document claimed (and the fee receipt) to The Recruitment Cell, Central University of Kerala, Tejaswini Hills, Periye, Kasaragod, Kerala 671325. Forms whose hard copy does not reach on time are rejected.
