CSB Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Central Silk Technological Research Institute (CSTRI) of the Central Silk Board (CSB), Ministry of Textiles, is hiring a Project Associate for its Silk Technical Service Centre (STSC) at Rayapur, Dharwad. The post sits under a DST-SHRI project titled "Exploring Technological Solutions for Conservation and Revival of Ilkal Saree Weaving Heritage in North Karnataka". Selection is through a walk-in interview, so there is no online form to fill.

This is a hands-on field role. You will spend much of your time with Ilkal saree weavers and artisans in the project cluster, documenting traditional designs and motifs and building a digital heritage design library. Candidates with a textile, fashion or design background who are comfortable with a camera and design software will fit best.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The engagement runs initially up to 31 March 2027 and may be extended by up to two more years, depending on project needs, your performance and the applicable rules.
• Contract only: The post is purely temporary and ends with the project. You cannot claim any regular post afterwards.
• Field travel: You must be willing to travel on your own to the project cluster and nearby villages as directed by the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance is paid for attending the interview.
• Joining: If selected, you must confirm your consent to join within the given time; otherwise the offer passes to the next candidate on the merit list.
• Documents: Incomplete documents lead to rejection on the spot, and canvassing in any form cancels your candidature.

Walk in to the Silk Technical Service Centre, CSB-CSTRI, Sericulture Complex, Rayapur, Dharwad 580009. Report by 9:30 AM; the interview starts at 10:00 AM and no one is admitted after 12 Noon.

Bring the filled-in application proforma (attached to the advertisement and also on the CSB/CSTRI website), a passport-size photograph, and your original certificates from Class 10 onwards with one set of attested photocopies.

• Conduct field surveys and visits in the Ilkal saree weaving cluster
• Document the Ilkal weaving heritage through photographs, videos and written records
• Identify, record and digitise traditional Ilkal saree designs and motifs for a digital heritage design library
• Talk with the weaver community to identify problems at the field level
• Assist in the technical assessment of silk handloom and preparatory processes and in introducing suitable technology upgrades
• Help with data analysis, report writing and other project work
• Travel independently to the project cluster and nearby villages as instructed by the Principal Investigator
