BMC ICU Registrar and ICU HOD Recruitment 2026: Overview

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is holding a walk-in interview to fill ICU Registrar and ICU HOD posts at Shri Harilal Bhagwati Municipal General Hospital, Borivali (West). These are six-month special-pay tenure posts, not regular BMC jobs — the hospital fills them in fixed half-year cycles to keep its intensive care unit staffed. There is no written exam and no online form: you simply turn up with your documents on the interview day.

If you are an MBBS doctor with medical ICU experience, or you hold an MD or DNB in Medicine, this is a quick way into a well-paid critical-care role in one of Mumbai's municipal hospitals.

Posts and Disciplines

• ICU Registrar: a ward-level critical-care doctor for the hospital's medical ICU. MBBS doctors need hands-on MICU experience including handling ICU procedures independently; MD/DNB Medicine holders are paid at a higher fixed rate.
• ICU HOD: the senior doctor heading the ICU, open to MD/DNB Medicine holders. Your monthly pay is set by how many years of experience you have after post-graduation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure cycle: BMC runs these posts in six-month blocks, from 1 August to 31 January and from 1 February to 31 July. This round's appointment runs from 1 November until the end of January 2027.
• Extension: A further six months may be offered based on your performance, but you must apply again through the proper channel.
• Not a regular job: Selected doctors are not treated as regular BMC employees and have no right to be absorbed into BMC service.
• Late arrival: Anyone reporting after the registration window closes is not allowed to sit the interview.
• No travel allowance: BMC pays no TA/DA for attending the interview.

• ICU HOD: Office of the Chief Medical Superintendent and HOD (SHCS), 2nd floor, K.B. Bhabha Hospital, Bandra (W), Mumbai 400050 on 27 October. Registration runs from 9.30 AM to 10.00 AM.
