Service Conditions and Caveats

• Appointment routes: Professor and Additional Professor posts allow direct recruitment, deputation or retired-faculty contracts where available. Associate Professor and Assistant Professor posts are advertised through direct recruitment.
• Probation: The general appointment conditions provide for two years of probation and review. If you want to apply elsewhere during this period, AIIMS will not issue a No Objection Certificate.
• Deputation: The initial term is three years, with extension under the applicable deputation rules. Reservation does not apply to this route.
• Retired faculty: Consultant engagement initially lasts no more than one year. It can be extended by another year, but ends earlier if a regular appointment fills the post or the contractual service ceiling is reached.
• Contract commitments: Retired consultants work full time for the institute and cannot take another paid assignment. They receive thirty days of leave per calendar year on a cumulative basis and must protect confidential institute information.
• Ending a contract: Either side can end the retired-faculty engagement with one month's notice. The notice permits payment for a shortfall in notice, while misconduct or breach can bring termination without notice.
• Private practice: Clinical, laboratory and consultancy practice outside the institute is prohibited. This restriction also applies to deputation and retired-faculty appointments.
• Unfilled senior posts: If suitable Additional or Associate Professors are unavailable, AIIMS may downgrade those posts to Assistant Professor in the same advertised category and fill them contractually until regular recruitment succeeds.
• EWS treatment: Unfilled EWS posts are not carried forward as backlog. Applicants from other categories may be considered provisionally as unreserved candidates only if the EWS posts remain unfilled.
• Travel and changes: You must bear your own interview travel costs. AIIMS may revise the openings or amend or cancel recruitment, and will post updates on its website.

For deputation, forward the application through your employer using Annexure-3. That annexure allows the forwarded papers to reach the same address within fifteen days after online applications close; identify both the department and the deputation post on the envelope.
