IITK Multi-Tasking Attendant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is hiring Multi-Tasking Attendants, engaged as Project Multi Skilled Workers at Level 3, for its DRDO Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence. The centre is run by Dr. Kantesh Balani of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and the posts keep its office and labs running day to day.

This is a project post, not a regular institute job. You would look after the office, help with filing and purchase follow-ups, and handle the odd jobs a busy research centre throws up. If you have already worked in a lab or research office, the notice says that counts in your favour.

The bar to apply is low: a Class 10 pass is enough on paper. The notice still prefers people with a few years of similar work, and it allows longer experience to make up for less schooling.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The post is purely temporary. It runs for one year, with room for two extensions, or until the project ends, whichever comes first.

• Shortlisting: Holding the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call. Only shortlisted applicants are called, and those who miss the minimum qualification and experience are not called at all.

• Workplace: The work is based on the IIT Kanpur campus, in the centre's office and laboratory spaces.

• Serve tea, snacks and lunch, and clear the tables afterwards
• Operate photocopiers and fax machines and handle binding work
• Help with paper filing in the centre's office
• Follow ordering and purchase procedures and track pending purchases
• Run errands, fix small items and follow up on repairs
