IITD Project Scientist and Project Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), through its Industrial Research and Development (IRD) Unit, is hiring a Project Scientist and a Project Assistant (Tech.) at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering. Both posts work on SEPSOR, a multi-well electrochemical device for detecting sepsis biomarkers in clinical settings. It is a sub-project under the main WIN CoE project (RP04898), funded by the Wadhwani Innovation Network, Wadhwani Foundation, New Delhi, and led by Prof. Neetu Singh.

The project sits where biosensors meet hospital practice — experience handling real clinical samples counts for a lot here. If you have worked on electrodes, biosensor fabrication or lab tests like qPCR and ELISA, this is a chance to build a diagnostic device at one of India's top technical institutes.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Scientist: the senior research post, open to PhD holders in Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or a related field. Work in clinical settings with clinical samples, electrode design, system miniaturization and sensor biofabrication is preferred.
• Project Assistant (Tech.): a technical support post for graduates in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical or related fields who already have hands-on biosensor and microbiology lab experience.

Post-wise Duties

Project Scientist

You will lead the research side of the SEPSOR device — designing electrodes, shrinking the system into a compact multi-well format and testing it on clinical samples for sepsis biomarkers.

Project Assistant (Tech.)

You will support the lab work: fabricating and designing biosensors, and running qPCR, ELISA and microbiological studies that check how the device performs.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of appointment: Contractual on a consolidated pay, renewed every year or up to the end of the project, whichever comes first.
• Project tenure: The project currently runs up to 15 January 2028.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals can apply.
• Shortlisting: IIT Delhi may set higher criteria to shortlist candidates. Shortlisted names appear on ird.iitd.ac.in/shortlisted with the online interview details, and only they are contacted.
• Marks relaxation: SC/ST candidates may get a 5% relaxation in marks.
• Retired employees: A selected retired or superannuated government employee gets pay fixed as per IRD norms.
