CSIR NGRI Project Personnel Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) is engaging project personnel at Hyderabad for research, fieldwork and project support. The work spans mineral exploration, Himalayan hazards, geothermal energy and student outreach. These are project contracts, with different assignments under the same notice.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Assistant II: assignments support the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative and a geothermal pilot power plant feasibility project.
• Project Associate I: roles cover critical metals, artificial intelligence and machine learning, Jigyasa outreach, heliborne geophysics for the Ajanta Rail Tunnel and NGRI GEO finance.
• Project Junior Research Fellow: the Himalayan project studies landslides and floods using seismic monitoring for an early warning system.
• Project Associate I or II: GEOCITZ examines the Central India Tectonic Zone, including crust and mantle differentiation and how geological terranes joined.

Post-wise Duties

Project Assistant II

In the Skill Initiative assignment, you will provide secretarial support for training programmes. The geothermal assignment involves collecting field data, making laboratory measurements and processing the results.

Project Associate I

The computer science role involves AI and machine learning tasks. Geophysical assignments involve field surveys, data acquisition and processing, map preparation or CCUs-related work, depending on the project.

For the Ajanta Rail Tunnel study, you will work with geophysical and hydrogeological data, including modelling and inversion. The project also involves interpreting geophysical results in terms of rock layers and groundwater conditions.

Project Junior Research Fellow

You will handle seismic data analysis, coding and research for the Himalayan early warning study. This assignment sits within the landslide and flood monitoring project.

GEOCITZ Project Associate I or II

You will undertake geological fieldwork and sample preparation. The work also covers acquiring geochemical and isotopic data for the Central India study.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: Your engagement ends with the relevant project. Its duration can change with project needs and your performance or conduct.
• Appointment status: This engagement gives you no claim to a regular CSIR or NGRI post.
• Changes: NGRI may change the number or level of positions, or cancel them at selection.
• Travel: You must meet your own interview travel costs; NGRI will not pay TA or DA.

Report between 08:30 AM and 10:00 AM at CSIR-NGRI, near NGRI Metro Station, Uppal Road, Hyderabad, Telangana 500007. Entry closes at the end of this reporting window. The notice asks all interview participants to complete its linked Google Form and application form.

The online-interview registration window has closed. The remaining route is the scheduled walk-in for your post. The addendum permits only walk-in interviews for its added assignments.

• Addendum dated 1 October 2026: NGRI added geothermal, Ajanta Rail Tunnel and finance assignments under the same notice. All other terms remain unchanged.
