AIIMS Rishikesh Project Research Scientist-I Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh (AIIMS Rishikesh) is hiring a Project Research Scientist-I for a collaborative study with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). Funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the project aims to develop and clinically validate an artificial intelligence-powered antibiotic susceptibility device. Its clinical focus is on improving antimicrobial treatment for people with leukaemia and patients undergoing bone marrow transplants.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Research setting: The collaboration brings together medical oncology, haematology and biotechnology research. You will be part of work that connects sequencing-based research with a device intended to support antimicrobial treatment decisions in clinical care.
• Project supervision: The mentors are Dr. Uttam Kumar Nath, Professor and Head of Medical Oncology & Haematology at AIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr. Saugata Hazra, Associate Professor in Biotechnology and Biosciences at IIT Roorkee.
• Project identity: The ICMR proposal is IIRPIG-2023-0000773. This identifies the specific collaborative study behind the appointment and distinguishes it from other project recruitment at the institute.
• Initial term: The contract starts with a two-year period. Extension depends on project needs and the rules that apply to the appointment, so you should not assume that work beyond the initial term is guaranteed.
• Temporary appointment: This is a project contract. Taking up the role does not create a right to regular employment at AIIMS Rishikesh, and the institute will not accept a claim to a regular post on that basis.
• Joining requirement: If selected, you must join within seven days after the results are declared. Consider whether you can meet this joining window alongside any commitments to your current employer.
• Performance: The appointment may end if the Principal Investigator or Nodal Officer finds your performance unsatisfactory, subject to the terms governing the contract.
• Travel arrangements: AIIMS Rishikesh will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview. You will need to meet those costs yourself.
• Recruitment discretion: The Director or Recruitment Committee can relax or change qualification and experience conditions under the applicable rules. Such a change is discretionary, and the committee's recruitment decision is final.
