Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has released Vacancy Notification No. UCSL/IMS/HR/VN/F/11-SK/79 dated 11 May 2026. This is a permanent recruitment with 1 Unreserved and 1 OBC post at its Malpe, Karnataka facility. Candidates with shipyard, engineering or government storekeeping experience are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification (any one):

• Option A: Graduate with Post Graduate Diploma in Materials Management
• Option B: Minimum 3-year Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics / Marine / Shipbuilding

Experience (Essential):

• Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in storekeeping in a Shipyard / Engineering Company / Government or Semi-Government Company / Commercial Establishment

Desirable:

• Exposure to materials management or ERP packages

Note: Applicants holding higher qualifications like B.Tech or M.Sc will not be considered. The qualification must be from an AICTE / State / Central Government recognised institute.

Age Limit

• Maximum age: 35 years as on 04 June 2026 (applicants should be born on or after 05 June 1991)
• OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation
• PwBD: As per Government of India guidelines (maximum 45 years after all relaxations)
• Ex-servicemen: Military service period deducted from actual age plus 3 years (max 45 years)

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 17,000-61,020 (W4 Grade)
• Basic Pay: Rs. 17,000
• DA (54.1%): Rs. 9,197
• HRA (10%): Rs. 1,700
• Fuel reimbursement: Rs. 1,600
• Washing allowance: Rs. 500
• Total Monthly Gross: Rs. 29,997

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages:

1. Objective Type Offline Test (70 marks, 75 minutes): 70 MCQs - General Knowledge (5), Reasoning (5), Quantitative Aptitude (5), General English (5), and Discipline related (50). No negative marking.
2. Descriptive Type Offline Test (30 marks, 60 minutes): Discipline related. Evaluated only for candidates who clear the objective test.

Total marks: 100. Minimum pass marks: 50% for UR, 45% for OBC (in each test). The test will be held at UCSL Malpe or any other place in Udupi as decided by UCSL. Tie-breaker: Discipline part marks, then seniority in age.

• Handle receipt, inspection and storage of materials at the shipyard stores
• Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP and materials management systems
• Issue materials to production departments based on indents and approvals
• Conduct periodic stock verification and physical audits of stored items
• Coordinate with procurement and quality teams for incoming consignments
• Manage warehouse safety, proper labelling and storage of hazardous materials
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly stores reports for management review
• Assist in disposal of scrap and obsolete materials as per shipyard procedures
