Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Law Degree: You must hold a degree in law granted by a recognised university established by law in India.
  • Advocate Practice: You must have practised for at least 3 years as an advocate.
  • Law Clerk Experience: Experience as a Law Clerk with a Judge or Judicial Officer can also be counted for calculating practice experience.

Other Requirements

  • Language: You must have knowledge of the Manipur State Official Language. This will be tested during the interview.
  • Certificate of Practice: You need to upload the prescribed certificate of practice, certified in the format given in the advertisement.
  • Bar Council Date: Years of practice will be counted from your provisional enrolment or registration date with the concerned State Bar Council.

Age Limit

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • For UR and other candidates, maximum age is 35 years as on the last date of application submission.
  • For OBC candidates, maximum age is 38 years as on the last date of application submission.
  • For SC and ST candidates, maximum age is 40 years as on the last date of application submission.

Salary

  • Pay scale: J-1: Rs. 77,840 to Rs. 1,36,520 per month

Selection Process

The selection will be completed through 3 main stages and final merit will use the marks from the Main Written Examination and Viva-Voce/Interview.

  1. Preliminary Examination: Objective-type exam for 200 marks. UR/OBC candidates need 50% marks and SC/ST candidates need 45% marks to qualify for the Main Written Examination. Candidates will be called for mains in the ratio of 1:10.
  2. Main Written Examination: Written exam for 400 marks. Minimum benchmark is 50% for UR/OBC and 45% for ST/SC candidates. Candidates will be called for interview in the ratio of 1:3.
  3. Viva-Voce / Interview: Interview for 70 marks. You need at least 40% marks in the interview to be included in the select list. Knowledge of Manipuri will be tested here.
  4. Document Verification: Original documents and self-attested photocopies must be produced at the interview stage.

Exam Pattern
