Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) has released Advertisement No. 25/2026-27 for Geologist posts in the Gujarat Mining Service, Class-I. Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Degree: Postgraduate degree in Geology or Applied Geology with minimum 55% marks.
• Recognised Institution: The degree must be from a university or institution recognised under Indian law, including deemed universities recognised under the UGC Act.

Experience Requirement

• Option 1: About 3 years of experience in a post not below the rank of Royalty Inspector, Class-III, in the subordinate service of the Commissionerate of Geology and Mining.
• Option 2: About 3 years of experience in mining, mineral administration, mineral legislation, or mineral exploration in Government, Government undertaking, Board, Corporation, Limited Company established by law in India, or a mining organisation.
• Equivalent Level: The experience post should be considered equivalent to a post not below Royalty Inspector, Class-III.

Other Requirements

• Computer Knowledge: You must have basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed under Gujarat Civil Services rules.
• Language: You must have adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Age Limit

• Maximum age is 40 years.
• Age will be counted on the last date of online application, which is 19 June 2026.
• Gujarat EWS/SEBC/SC/ST male candidates: 5 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• General female candidates of Gujarat origin: 5 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• Gujarat EWS/SEBC/SC/ST female candidates: 10 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• Ex-servicemen: Military service period plus 3 years.
• PwD candidates: 10 years relaxation, maximum up to 45 years.
• Gujarat Government employees: Relaxation as per the Gujarat Civil Services rules described in the notification.

Salary

• Pay Scale: Rs. 67,700 to Rs. 2,08,700 per month.
• Pay Level: Level-10 as per the 7th Pay Commission.
• You will also get allowances as per Government of Gujarat rules after appointment.

Selection Process

The selection will be done through a preliminary test and interview. GPSC will call candidates for interview based on the category-wise vacancy rules.

1. Preliminary Test - General Studies: 100 marks paper with 60 minutes duration, scheduled for 26 July 2026.
2. Preliminary Test - Concerned Subject: 200 marks paper with 120 minutes duration, scheduled for 04 October 2026.
3. Minimum Standard: Candidates scoring less than 15% in the preliminary test will not be eligible for interview.
4. Interview Shortlisting: For 4 or more posts, GPSC may call 3 times the number of posts or 20 candidates, whichever is higher.
5. Document Verification: You will need to support your qualification, experience, category, disability, and age-relaxation claims with documents.
6. Final Result: GPSC says the final result will be published within 10 working days after the last date of interview.
