About This Job

CSIR-TKDL Unit is hiring 8 Project Associates across 6 disciplines on a contract basis in New Delhi. If you have a Master's degree or B.E./B.Tech in the relevant field, you can attend the walk-in interview. The interviews will be held on 25 and 26 May 2026 at CSIR-TKDL Unit, Qutub Institutional Area, New Delhi. Salary ranges from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 42,000 per month plus HRA. The engagement is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project (up to 15 January 2027).

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Traditional Knowledge Digital Library Unit has released Advertisement No. TKDL/02/2026 for engagement of project manpower under the project "The Importance of Traditional Wisdom: Environmental Consciousness in Vedic and other literature and its Relevance for Modern Climate Strategies" (GAP-000001). Selection is through walk-in interview only — no written exam. Who Can Apply?

TKEE01 - PAT-I Environmental Sciences

  • Master's/Integrated Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences / Environmental Management / Environmental Studies from a recognised university, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Management or related disciplines
  • Desirable: Experience in environmental monitoring or climate change related project activities

TKEE02 - Senior-PAT Environmental Engineering/Energy

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Technology in Environmental Engineering / Environmental Management + minimum 3 years' experience in R&D, OR
  • Master's/Integrated Master's Degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Management + minimum 3 years' R&D experience, OR
  • ME/MTech/PhD in Environmental Engineering and Technology + minimum 2 years' R&D experience
  • Desirable: Field surveys in environment management, waste management, circular economy

TKEE03 - PAT-I Forestry & Ecology

  • Master's/Integrated Master's Degree in Natural Sciences or Forestry/Ecology or related fields from a recognised university
  • Desirable: Field surveys, resource mapping, ecological monitoring experience

TKEE04 - PAT-I Urban/Rural Planning

  • Master's/Integrated Master's Degree in Planning (Urban/Rural) or Architecture from a recognised university, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in Planning/Architecture or Architecture from a recognised university
  • Desirable: Experience in city planning, layout preparation, master plan development

TKEE05 - PAT-I Data Science

  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, AI/ML, Data Science, Electronics, Software Engineering or Computational Linguistics, OR
  • Master's Degree in the same disciplines from a recognised university
  • Desirable: Knowledge of programming for machine learning, Python, ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)

TKEE06 - PAT-I Sanskrit

  • Master's/Integrated Master's Degree in Sanskrit language from a recognised university
  • Desirable: Experience in translation of Sanskrit texts

Age Limit

  • Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Maximum 35 years (calculated as on the date of interview)
  • Senior Project Associate (Senior-PAT): Maximum 40 years (calculated as on the date of interview)
  • Age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS candidates as per CSIR/Government of India rules

Salary

  • Project Associate-I (PAT-I): Rs. 31,000 per month + HRA for candidates who qualified CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including lectureship/assistant professorship), GATE, or National Level exams by DBT/DST
  • Project Associate-I (PAT-I) - Others: Rs. 25,000 per month + HRA for candidates who do not qualify under the above
  • Senior Project Associate (Senior-PAT): Rs. 42,000 per month + HRA
  • HRA is payable as per Government of India rules applicable to CSIR employees

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is purely through walk-in interview:

  1. Document Verification: Candidates must bring all original certificates plus self-attested photocopies in support of age, qualification, and experience
  2. Walk-in Interview: Personal interview before the selection committee at CSIR-TKDL Unit
  3. Panel Formation: A waitlist panel will be constituted in order of merit, valid until project completion

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Candidates currently employed must furnish a No-Objection Certificate from their current employer at the time of interview.

Responsibilities

  • Establish correlation between traditional knowledge in ancient texts and modern sciences to address environmental challenges
  • Compile and analyse data on traditional wisdom relevant to climate strategies
  • Conduct field surveys, resource mapping, and monitoring of ecological indicators where applicable
  • Process and analyse project data for reports, presentations, and research articles
  • Identify traditional wisdom from Vedic texts and provide contextual interpretation
  • Assist in preparation of research reports, documentation, and project deliverables
  • Support the Principal Investigator in day-to-day project activities at CSIR-TKDL Unit

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Master's degree or B.E./B.Tech in relevant discipline (Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Forestry/Ecology, Planning/Architecture, Computer Science/IT/Data Science, or Sanskrit)

Preferred Qualification

CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET, GATE, or National Level exams (DBT/DST). Experience in environmental monitoring, field surveys, machine learning, or Sanskrit translation as relevant to post.

Required Skills

Research aptitude, data analysis, technical writing; post-specific skills in environmental science, ecology, urban planning, ML/Python, or Sanskrit translation
