Balmer Lawrie & Co. Limited, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has released advertisement BL/LS/Retainer/2026-27/A for retainers in Logistics Services. The company needs experienced rail operations professionals for smooth rake movement, coordination with Indian Railways and logistics support. Educational Qualification

Mandatory Experience

  • Railway Background: You must be an ex-Railway employee.
  • Total Experience: You need at least 10 years of work experience in Indian Railways.
  • Role Experience: You must have at least 2 years of experience as Chief Controller, Assistant Traffic Manager, Chief Station Master, Station Master, Chief Traffic Inspector, Yard Master or Section Controller.

Preferred Experience

  • Preference will be given if you are currently engaged with an organisation handling rail logistics operations.
  • You should have hands-on experience in rail movement and regular interaction with Indian Railways for operational work.

Work Fit

  • You should be comfortable giving practical guidance on freight train operations.
  • You should be able to monitor daily railway movement, prepare SOPs, track performance and create MIS reports.
  • You should be able to help reduce demurrage, penalties and movement delays through better coordination.

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: 63 years as on 23 June 2026.
  • Experience Cut-off Date: 23 June 2026.
  • The engagement can be extended yearly based on company need and performance, up to a maximum age of 65 years.

Retainership Fee

  • The retainership fee will be paid as per Balmer Lawrie Company Rules.

  • The role is a full-time retainership, initially for one year.
  • The first extension, if approved on need basis, will be on the same terms, conditions and pay.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth upward and downward movement of railway rakes for company clients
  • Coordinate with Indian Railways authorities for logistics operations

  • Manage rail traffic to avoid demurrage, penalties and operational delays
  • Guide Balmer Lawrie officials on freight train operations matters

  • Review periodic performance against contractual obligations
