Assam Science and Technology University Controller of Examinations Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), a Government of Assam state university at Jalukbari, Guwahati, has issued Advertisement No. 03/2026 for the Controller of Examinations post. The notification lists one UR vacancy for a senior officer who can manage university examination systems, confidential exam work and result processing.

The appointment will initially be for 1 year. It may be renewed yearly based on good performance and contribution, up to a maximum of 5 years or up to the age of 60 years, whichever comes earlier. ASTU has also said that the Controller of Examinations may be assigned teaching responsibility for in-campus B.Tech senior-level courses when required.

Who Can Apply?

Essential Qualification

• Education: You need a Master's degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade in the seven-point scale.
• Experience route 1: You need at least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years in Academic Level 12 and above including Associate Professor, along with educational administration experience.
• Experience route 2: Comparable experience in a research establishment or another higher education institution can also be considered.
• Experience route 3: You can also qualify with 15 years of administrative experience, including 8 years as Deputy Registrar or an equivalent post.
• Citizenship: You must be an Indian citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.

Desirable Qualification and Skills

• Examination work: Experience in conducting or assisting university, college or institution examinations is desirable.
• Secure exam operations: ASTU values experience in secure question paper distribution, especially across remote examination centres.
• Digital systems: Experience with online evaluation, result processing, ERP and computerisation of examination work will help.
• Confidentiality: You should be able to maintain strict confidentiality in examination-related work.
• Communication: Very good communication, drafting skill and leadership for examination activities are desirable.
• Ph.D.: A Ph.D. degree in Engineering or Technology is desirable.

Age and Tenure Condition

• The notification does not give a separate minimum or maximum application age limit.
• The appointment can continue yearly up to a maximum of 5 years or up to the age of 60 years, whichever is earlier.
• Relaxation for SC, ST, OBC and PwD applicants will follow Assam Government rules where applicable.

Salary

• Pay level: Pay Matrix Level 14.
• Monthly pay range: Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200.
• Allowances: ASTU will pay other admissible allowances as per rules.
• The selected person will be under the New Pension Rules, 2005, and retirement benefits will be limited to Government of Assam rules.

• No cheque, demand draft or cash payment will be accepted for the processing fee.

Selection Process

ASTU will check the applications and call only shortlisted people for interview. The notification does not give a written exam pattern for this post.

1. Application scrutiny: ASTU will verify qualification, experience, fee receipt and required enclosures.
2. Shortlisting: Meeting the minimum eligibility alone does not guarantee an interview call.
3. Interview: Only shortlisted applicants will be called for interview.
4. Document verification: Original certificates must be shown at the interview stage.
5. Medical fitness: Final appointment will be made after the selected person is found medically fit.

2. Download the official advertisement and the officer application form.
3. Fill the bio-data format and attach 3 passport size photographs and 2 self-addressed envelopes.
4. Pay the processing fee through SBI Collect under Assam Science and Technology University and print the online receipt.
5. Attach self-attested copies of certificates and mark sheets from matriculation onwards, category certificate if applicable, experience certificates and fee receipt.
6. If you are employed, send the application through proper channel or submit an advance copy with fee proof. You must produce NOC and last 5 years ACRs for interview.
7. Superscribe the envelope as application for the post of Controller of Examinations, Post Code COE/01/2026.
8. Send it to Office of Registrar, Assam Science and Technology University, Tetelia Road, Near AEC Campus, Jalukbari, Guwahati-781013.
