The District & Sessions Judge, Angul (Odisha) is hiring 18 staff posts across three cadres: Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist, Stenographer Grade-III, and Salaried Amin. The Office of the District & Sessions Judge, Angul has released Advertisement No. 03 dated 18.05.2026 inviting applications in plain paper (Form-A) for 18 vacancies in the Judgeship of Angul. The recruitment is governed by the Odisha District & Civil Courts Judicial Staff Services (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Services) Rules, 2008 as amended up to 2026. This is a court staff recruitment with a written exam, computer/skill test and viva voce — so freshers with graduation and basic computer knowledge can apply.

  • Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist (Level-4, Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200): 13 posts (UR: 2, ST: 7 including 3 for Women, SC: 1, SEBC: 3)

The number of vacancies in different cadres and categories may increase or decrease. Reservation for Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities and Sports persons will be filled as per existing rules.

Who Can Apply?

For Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist and Stenographer Grade-III

  • Qualification: You must have passed at least +3 (Graduation) or equivalent examination from a recognised university.
  • Computer Knowledge: Must have at least a Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised institute.
  • Stenographer extra requirement: Minimum speed of 80 words per minute in shorthand and 40 words per minute in type writing. The typewriting test will be conducted on a computer system in English only.

For Salaried Amin

  • Qualification: Must have passed the Matriculation (10th) or equivalent examination from a recognised Board.
  • Special requirement: Must have passed Revenue Inspector Training.
  • Must have computer operation knowledge.

Common Requirements (for all posts)

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write Odia and have passed a test in Odia equivalent to the M.E. standard.
  • Must be of good character, sound health and good physique.
  • Must not have more than one spouse living, if married.
  • Government servants (Temporary or Permanent) can apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 42 years old as on 18 June 2026.
  • Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC/Women candidates.
  • PWD and Ex-Servicemen candidates get relaxation as per the relevant Acts, Rules and Orders in force.
  • Only the date of birth recorded in your High School Certificate (or equivalent) will be accepted by the District Recruitment Committee.

Salary

  • Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist: Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200 per month (Level-4)
  • Stenographer Grade-III: Rs. 25,500 - Rs. 81,100 per month (Level-7)
  • Salaried Amin: Rs. 21,700 - Rs. 69,100 per month (Level-5)
  • You will also get DA and other allowances as admissible to Government employees from time to time, as per ORSP Rule, 2017.
  • Pay is subject to the result of WP (C) No. 1273/2014 pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa, Cuttack.

Selection Process

Selection will be done in multiple stages depending on the post:

For Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist

  1. Written Test (Part-I & Part-II): English (100 marks, 2 hours), Arithmetic (100 marks, 1 hour), General Knowledge (100 marks, 1 hour) and Computer Science Practical (100 marks, 1 hour).
  2. Viva Voce Test: 45 marks. Only candidates who clear the Computer Science Practical Test will be called.

For Stenographer Grade-III

  1. Written Test: English (100 marks, qualifying in nature, 2 hours).
  2. Shorthand & Typewriting Test: 50 marks, 15 minutes (conducted on computer in English only).
  3. Computer Science Test (Practical): 100 marks, 1 hour.
  4. Viva Voce Test: 35 marks.

For Salaried Amin

  1. Part-I Written Test: English (100 marks, 2 hours), Arithmetic (100 marks, 1 hour), Technical knowledge in Survey & Settlement - Theory (50 marks, half hour).
  2. Part-II: Technical knowledge in Survey & Settlement - Practical (50 marks, half hour). Minimum 35% in each Part-I subject required to appear.
  3. Part-III Viva Voce: 25 marks. Minimum 50% in Part-II (40% for SC/ST) required to appear.

Career merit lists based on HSC, +2 and +3 percentages will be prepared first; candidates up to 20 times the actual vacancy in each category will be called for the written test.

  • However, you must enclose two self-addressed envelopes stamped with Rs. 50 each for dispatch of letters by Registered Post/Speed Post.

Responsibilities

  • Handle file processing, copying, and maintain court records (Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist)
  • Take shorthand dictation and prepare typed orders, judgments and official correspondence (Stenographer Grade-III)
  • Carry out survey and settlement work, prepare measurement reports and maintain land records (Salaried Amin)
  • Assist judicial officers and senior staff with day-to-day court work
  • Manage incoming and outgoing dak (correspondence) of the court
  • Use court software and computer systems for case data entry and document management
  • Prepare cause lists, certified copies and other documents for litigants and lawyers
  • Follow the rules and code of conduct prescribed for court staff in Odisha

Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist (Total 445 marks)

  • English: 100 marks, 2 hours (Essay 30, Letter/Application 20, Odia to English translation 15, English to Odia translation 15, Summary 20)
  • Arithmetic: 100 marks, 1 hour
  • General Knowledge: 100 marks, 1 hour
  • Computer Science Practical: 100 marks, 1 hour
  • Viva Voce: 45 marks

Stenographer Grade-III

  • English (Qualifying): 100 marks, 2 hours
  • Shorthand & Typewriting Test: 50 marks, 15 minutes (on computer, English only)
  • Computer Science Practical: 100 marks, 1 hour
  • Viva Voce: 35 marks

Salaried Amin

  • English: 100 marks, 2 hours
  • Arithmetic: 100 marks, 1 hour
