IISER Tirupati Research Associate Biology Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) is recruiting Research Associate-I staff for plant biology and agricultural biotechnology projects in its Department of Biology. The institute operates under the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Eswarayya Ramireddy is the principal investigator for this recruitment. Both projects concern rice research, with a focus on crop resilience, food security and nutritional security.

Posts and Disciplines

• SEED-DSR: This project studies seedling and root engineering in direct-seeded rice. Its focus is efficient use of nutrients and water, together with resilience to drought and heat.
• Genome-edited indica rice: This project develops a genome-edited population in a mega indica rice background. It addresses food and nutritional security alongside climate-change concerns.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: The appointment runs for one year, with a possible further 12 months after a performance review. You should treat the extension as conditional on that review.
• Project-linked appointment: The role ends automatically when the research project ends. The notice provides for termination without notice or compensation at project closure.
• No regular appointment claim: Taking up this role does not give you a claim to absorption or another appointment at IISER Tirupati. The appointment also follows the funding agency’s terms for the project.
• Joining requirement: If selected, you must be ready to join immediately after receiving the offer. Keep that condition in mind if you are currently working elsewhere or need to relocate to Tirupati.
• Interview travel: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview. You will need to make your own arrangements if called.
• Authenticity: You are responsible for the information, photographs and supporting evidence you provide. The institute can cancel your candidature or end the appointment if it later finds that you did not meet the notified requirements.
• Conduct and communication: Canvassing or bringing outside influence can lead to disqualification. The institute will not entertain interim enquiries about the recruitment.
• Postdoctoral fellowship applications: After selection, the institute may forward applications for competitive fellowships to the Anusandhan National Research Foundation or other agencies. This is a possible onward application route, not a promise of a fellowship award.
