Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Model and Super Specialty Hospital, Asramam, Kollam is engaging Super Specialists, Specialists and Senior Residents through a contractual walk-in drive. Posts and Disciplines

• Super Specialists: Endocrinology and Neurology appointments offer full-time or part-time engagement, with entry and senior consultant levels governed by the notice.

Post-wise Duties

Full-time Specialists and Super Specialists

You will follow the hospital's full-time working schedule and attend emergency calls when needed. Super Specialists must also visit when the hospital needs them.

Part-time Specialists and Super Specialists

You will work scheduled sessions at the hospital. Additional hours need the competent authority's justification, and emergency visits depend on your willingness under the stated arrangement.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Full-time specialist contracts start for one year and may extend up to three years with satisfactory performance, or end earlier when a regular appointee joins. Part-time specialists and residents have one-year contracts that can also end when a regular doctor joins.
• Working hours: Full-time specialists work 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays. Part-time work is four hours a day on four days each week.
• Private practice: Only part-time Specialists and Super Specialists may continue private practice. You cannot hold part-time contractual engagements at two ESIC hospitals simultaneously.
• Reserved posts: If suitable applicants from an advertised category are unavailable, ESIC may engage an unreserved applicant for 44 days.
• Leave: Full-time specialists earn four days per month, with unused-leave encashment limited to 30 days. Part-time posts carry no leave. Residents earn one day per completed month; unused leave lapses at the end of their year.
• Liability cover: Selected Specialists and Super Specialists need professional indemnity insurance throughout the contract. The required cover depends on the specialty, and insurance and premium records must reach the hospital within seven days of engagement.
• Joining agreement: You must sign an agreement on Rs. 200 non-judicial stamp paper and provide a Rs. 15,000 security deposit through a demand draft favouring ESIC Account No 2, payable at Kollam. The deposit is refundable after successful completion and a no-dues certificate.
• Notice period: Resigning requires one month's notice or equivalent pay. The authority may also end employment with notice, or immediately for disciplinary action.
• Other conditions: ESIC may revise vacancies or cancel the advertisement. No travel or daily allowance is payable for attending.
