ESIC Guwahati Senior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College and Hospital, Beltola, Guwahati is engaging Senior Residents on contract for its clinical departments and newborn and children's intensive-care units. ESIC is a statutory body set up under the ESI Act, 1948 and run under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Most openings sit in General Surgery, NICU and PICU, so paediatric and surgical PG doctors have the widest choice. Doctors who can join immediately get preference.

Posts and Disciplines

• Neonatal ICU (NICU) and Paediatric ICU (PICU): the largest share of this drive, for doctors who want critical-care exposure with newborns and children.
• General Surgery: the biggest single clinical department in the notice, with seats spread across reserved and unreserved categories.
• General Medicine and Paediatrics: ward and OPD-based residency posts in the core medical departments.
• Obstetrics and Gynaecology: residency posts in the maternity and women's health wing.
• Anaesthesia and Radiodiagnosis: support-speciality posts linked to the operation theatres and imaging services.
• Orthopaedics, ENT and Chest: smaller surgical and respiratory units in this round.
• Medical Oncology: a residency post in the cancer-care unit.

Pre-clinical departments such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology, along with Dermatology, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Dental and ICU, show no vacancy in this round.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The residency runs for up to 3 years, renewed every year based on satisfactory performance.
• No regularisation: The engagement is purely contractual and gives you no claim to a permanent post in the hospital.
• Private practice: Not allowed in any form during your ESIC service.
• Security deposit: Selected doctors give a Rs. 30,000 demand draft in favour of "ESI Fund Account No. 1", payable at Guwahati. If you resign within 9 months, this amount is forfeited.
• Accommodation: Hostel rooms or quarters are not provided.
• Notice period: Either side can end the contract with one month's notice.
• Reserved seats: If no SC, ST or OBC candidate is available, a candidate from another category may be engaged for less than 45 days against that seat, and the post is advertised again.
• Vacancy count: The numbers are provisional and may go up or down with actual need.
• NOC: Serving doctors and doctors under a bond must bring a No Objection Certificate, or they cannot sit the interview.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
