AIIMS Nagpur Medical Physicist Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur is hiring Medical Physicists for its Department of Radiation Oncology on an 11-month contract. AIIMS Nagpur is an Institute of National Importance set up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), and it serves as a major cancer-care and tertiary hospital for the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

The posts are unreserved (UR), and the pay is a fixed consolidated amount with no increase during the contract. If you already have two years of radiotherapy department experience and an M.Sc. in Medical Physics (or an equivalent route), this is a direct way into an AIIMS clinical team. An RSO (Radiological Safety Officer) approval from the competent authority gives you an edge.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract only: The post is purely contractual, is not linked to any regular appointment and cannot be regularised at any stage. The contract ends at 11 months or when a regular appointment is made, whichever is earlier, and may be extended on performance.
• Early exit: If you resign within the first three months, you will not get a No Objection Certificate, relieving letter or experience certificate.
• Notice: Either side can end the contract with one month's notice or one month's salary.
• No regular benefits: There is no PF, pension, gratuity, medical attendance, seniority or promotion. You earn one day of paid leave for each completed month.
• Whole-time job: Private practice of any kind and any other paid or unpaid assignment are not allowed.
• Screening test: If AIIMS receives a large number of applications, it may hold a screening test before the interview.
• Interview standard: You must reach the minimum qualifying marks set by the selection committee, whatever your merit position.
• Serving employees: If you work in Central/State Government, a semi-government or an autonomous body, bring a No Objection Certificate to the interview.
• Medical fitness: Joining depends on clearance by the designated medical board.
• Travel costs: No TA or DA is paid for the interview, the written test or joining.
