Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) is engaging Professional Interns on contract in its Marine Department in Mumbai. The notice brings together safety and pollution, tendering and technical monitoring, and data and billing support roles. Posts and Disciplines

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The initial engagement lasts 2 years. It may be extended for another 2 years after a 2-day break, depending on performance, with no further extension. Reviews take place every 6 months.
• Full-time commitment: You cannot take another assignment during this engagement. The self-declaration also rules out another organisation’s employment or a course requiring classroom attendance.
• Work schedule: Normal hours are 10 am to 6 pm on working days. Departmental needs may require late work, holidays or a changed weekly rest day. Work on a weekly off or declared holiday can earn compensatory rest under the notice’s terms.
• Equipment and orientation: Bring your own laptop. MbPA will provide workspace, internet and other approved support, along with 1-2 weeks of orientation.
• Leave: You receive 20 days of casual leave per calendar year on a proportionate basis. Unused leave cannot be carried forward or cashed out, and absence beyond the permitted limits can affect your engagement.
• Experience certificate: You must complete at least 1 year to receive a certificate. Poor attendance or failure to follow working hours can also lead to termination without an experience certificate.
• Conduct and confidentiality: You must sign an Integrity Pact, protect confidential information and follow MbPA’s rules. The engagement does not create a claim to permanent employment.
• Ending the contract: Normally, either side gives 1 month’s notice, with the authority’s payment-in-lieu provision applying as stated. MbPA can end the engagement immediately for the listed performance, integrity or false-information grounds.
• Applications across roles: The notice asks for separate applications for different positions while also stating that a candidate may apply for engagement only once in a financial year. Check this condition with MbPA if you intend to seek more than one role.
• Recruitment updates: MbPA will post changes on its website without separate individual communication. It can cancel the exercise or reject applications, and disputes are subject to Mumbai jurisdiction.
