Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), established in 2009 by an Act of Parliament and located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is hiring research staff for an ICSSR-funded Major Research Project titled "Women's Autonomy and Decision-Making Dynamics among Migrant and Non-Migrant Families in Lohardaga, Jharkhand". This project falls under the "Family and Family Systems in India" initiative (2025-26) and is being conducted by the Department of Geography. Who Can Apply?

For Research Assistant (Rs. 37,000/month):

• Essential: Postgraduate degree in a Social Science discipline (preferably Geography, Population Studies/Demography, Economics, Sociology, or Anthropology) with minimum 55% marks plus NET / M.Phil. / Ph.D.
• Desirable: Research publications in Scopus-indexed, Web of Science (SCI/SCIE/ESCI), UGC-CARE listed, PubMed-indexed, or other reputed peer-reviewed journals
• Desirable: Ability to handle and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data from field surveys, along with strong English writing skills

For Field Investigator (Rs. 20,000/month):

• Essential: Postgraduate degree in a Social Science discipline (preferably Geography, Population Studies/Demography, Economics, Sociology, or Anthropology) with minimum 55% marks
• Desirable: Experience of fieldwork-based data collection in tribal-dominated areas
• Desirable: Knowledge of local tribal language or dialect of Jharkhand

Salary

• Research Assistant: Rs. 37,000 per month (consolidated)
• Field Investigator: Rs. 20,000 per month (consolidated)
• These are consolidated amounts — no separate allowances like DA or HRA are provided.

Selection Process

Selection will be done through interview:

1. Shortlisting: Applications will be screened based on qualifications and experience. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
2. Interview (Offline): Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email for the interview. You need to bring your original documents at the time of interview.

Note: The decision of the selection committee will be final and binding. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.

• Assist the Project Director in planning and executing research activities for the ICSSR project

• Prepare research reports, working papers, and drafts for journal publications
• Coordinate with local communities and tribal groups for data collection activities
• Travel extensively within Jharkhand for fieldwork in tribal-dominated areas
• Maintain proper documentation of field data, interview transcripts, and survey records
