CSIR NEIST Project Staff Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Jorhat, is recruiting staff for externally funded and institute research projects. The institute forms part of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), with work across biological, chemical, materials, engineering and computational sciences. Posts and Disciplines

• 0901 and 0902, soybean functional foods: Project Associate I and Principal Project Associate roles support a study using microbial resources from traditionally fermented foods of North East India.
• 0903, regenerative repairs: Project Technical Support III is linked to bioresorbable screws and fillers for low-load-bearing defects, including fabrication and preclinical validation.
• 0904 to 0908, CSIR Aroma Mission Phase 4.0: Senior Project Associate, Project Associate II, Project Associate I and Project Assistant II roles span plant sciences, chemistry and mechanical engineering.
• 0909, regional facilitation centre: the Assistant Project Manager (Technical) role belongs to the North East Regional cum Facilitation Center at CSIR-NEIST.
• 0910, hydrogen storage: a Project Associate I role supports porous crystalline framework research for onboard hydrogen storage.
• 0911, NEIST-SEA: the Senior Project Associate role belongs to a project integrating deep learning and image processing with bioinformatics, health and natural sciences.
• 0912, indigenous manufacturing: a Project Associate I role is attached to the development of machines, devices and assembly lines.
• 0913, hepatitis medicines: a Project Associate I role belongs to research on lower-cost, greener preparation methods.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project-linked service: each engagement ends with its project. The appointment does not create a right to regular employment at the institute.
• Funding changes: project completion periods can be extended or shortened depending on the funding agency's grant. Your engagement is tied to those changes.
• Project periods: the soybean project runs up to 17 September 2029, regenerative repairs up to 31 August 2030, Aroma Mission up to 31 March 2029 and hydrogen storage up to 30 August 2029. The remaining listed projects run up to 31 March 2027; the regional centre project may be extended.
• Overall tenure: project staff engagement across different CSIR projects and institutes is limited to six years in total.
• Joining: selected applicants are expected to join immediately. Consider your availability before committing to a project.
• Research study: staff may be allowed to pursue PhD work under CSIR guidelines, with approval from the competent authority.
• Interview travel: no travel or daily allowance is payable for attending the interview at Jorhat.
• Recruitment changes: the institute may suspend or cancel recruitment for administrative reasons. A waiting panel remains valid for one year from its notification.
