CMET Multi Post Recruitment 2026: Overview

Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET) is recruiting project staff at its Thrissur laboratory in Kerala for a scientific project funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The work connects 2D materials research with electronic components and devices. These are project-linked appointments, so you should consider both the research area and the contract conditions when choosing a role.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Associate I (A): The materials-focused role covers synthesis, material development and the study of materials for practical applications at the Thrissur laboratory.
• Project Associate I (B): The engineering-focused role centres on electrical and electronic circuits, components and devices, including work at micro and nano scales.
• Project Assistant: This supporting role is part of the same project and laboratory, helping with device development, characterisation and equipment-related work.

Post-wise Duties

Project Associate I (A)

You will take part in material synthesis, characterisation and analysis, and develop materials for the project’s applications. The work also includes operating and maintaining sophisticated equipment and facilities, alongside the development of 2D materials and devices.

Project Associate I (B)

You will work on circuit, component and device design, electrical and electronic characterisation, and micro or nano fabrication. You will also operate and maintain project equipment and facilities used in developing 2D materials and devices.

Project Assistant

You will support circuit and device development, characterisation and fabrication activities. The role also supports the operation and maintenance of sophisticated equipment and facilities used by the project team.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The initial appointment runs up to 13 January 2027. Further service depends on an extension of the project; the notice says the project is likely to continue for another year.
• Regular employment: A project appointment gives you no right to a regular C-MET job. Consider the fixed project term when weighing this opportunity.
• Reservation: Associate I (A) is earmarked for General candidates. Associate I (B) and Project Assistant are OBC non-creamy-layer backlog positions.
• Future openings: The notice also allows applications from other categories for consideration against future project vacancies. This does not change the category earmarked for a current opening.
• Joining: You must report within the period in your offer, normally within 10 days. C-MET says it will not extend that reporting period.
• Project commitment: Selected staff are expected to stay until the project finishes. The notice says resignations during the project period will not normally be accepted.
