West Singhbhum Crop Guard Recruitment 2026: Overview
The Office of the Junior Plant Protection Officer, West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) is hiring Crop Guards (Fasal Rakshak) for the Plant Protection Centres (PPCs) across the district. The posts run under the state's Crop Protection Programme (Fasal Suraksha Karyakram) of the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Co-operative, Jharkhand, for the 2026-27 financial year. Each crop guard is placed at a Plant Protection Centre against a sanctioned seat.
This is an honorarium-based engagement for 11 months, or until a regular appointment is made, whichever comes first. It suits 10th-pass candidates from rural blocks who already have basic agriculture training and know the local language.
The drive follows the department's state order no. 03 of 23 May 2026, a memo from the Director of Agriculture, Jharkhand, and a 2023 resolution of the Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Rajbhasha Department. Seats are split using the West Singhbhum district reservation roster.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Block residence: You must live in the block that the Plant Protection Centre serves.
- Mandatory training: You need at least one 5-day training run under the Directorate of Agriculture and Horticulture of the department.
- Field skills: You must be able to ride a bicycle and climb trees — the notice lists both as essential skills.
- No claim to a regular job: The engagement is purely honorarium-based and gives no automatic right to regularisation, localisation or the service benefits of a regular government employee.
- Seat count can change: The number of posts may go up or down based on administrative need and the competent authority's decision.
