VNSGU Professor of Practice Recruitment 2026: Overview

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) is engaging Professors of Practice in its postgraduate departments and self-financed programmes at Surat. The scheme brings professional and industry experience into university teaching under the National Education Policy 2020. This is a fixed-term contractual engagement for practitioners who can connect academic learning with work outside the classroom.

Posts and Disciplines

• Arts and public-facing disciplines: Comparative Literature, Economics, English, Gujarati, Library and Information Science, Public Administration, Human Resource Development, Sociology, Journalism and Mass Communication, Interior Design and Fine Arts.
• Science: Aquatic Biology, Biosciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Statistics. The appendix includes applied areas such as fisheries, laboratory practice, food technology, industrial chemistry and data science.
• Commerce and management: Commerce and Business and Industrial Management, with areas including accountancy, taxation, auditing, financial management, supply chains and sector-specific business practice.
• Education and law: Education and Law programmes, including teaching practice, educational technology, assessment design, legal compliance and dispute resolution.
• Computing and technology: Computer Science and Information and Communication Technology, covering areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software development and network infrastructure.
• Rural studies and architecture: The Mahatma Gandhi Department of Rural Studies and Architecture programmes, with themes including tribal livelihoods, natural resources, sustainable buildings and urban planning.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Indicative subject areas: The appendix gives examples rather than a closed list. Your expertise may also be considered when it relates to a programme offered by the department concerned.
• Initial engagement: The first term is for one year. Extensions can take the total to three years, with one further year possible only for exceptionally good performance.
• Extension review: The Head of Department assesses your performance and may recommend another term. The Vice-Chancellor decides whether to approve that recommendation.
• Work arrangement: The position need not be full-time. You will work in your assigned department, follow its timetable and handle the theory and practical workload assigned to the engagement.
• Appointment status: The engagement creates no claim to a regular appointment, absorption, continuation or seniority. It sits outside the university’s sanctioned faculty posts and does not affect regular faculty recruitment.
• University discretion: The university may change the departments or subject areas, vary the engagements, or cancel all or part of the advertisement. It may also decide not to engage anyone in an advertised area.
• Rolling process: The university will consider further applications through recurring monthly windows after the first batch. The schedule for later consideration depends on the university’s decision.
