Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University (MPBOU) is appointing an Ombudsperson in Bhopal to hear student grievances under the University Grants Commission (UGC) student grievance regulations. This is a temporary, part-time appointment with an emphasis on independent judgment. You would join the university’s grievance-redressal arrangement while remaining free of connections that could affect your decisions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Domicile: The university restricts this appointment to people domiciled in Madhya Pradesh. This is a specific condition of this notice.
• Term: The appointment runs for three years, subject to the notice’s age-based tenure limit. You may be considered for one further term; reappointment is not automatic.
• Independence: Personal relationships, professional links or financial interests must not compromise your judgment, or reasonably appear to do so. The restriction covers appointment, the preceding year and your time in office.
• Removal safeguards: Proven misconduct or misbehaviour can lead to removal. An inquiry must first be conducted by someone of at least retired High Court judge rank, with a reasonable opportunity for you to be heard.
• Accuracy: False information or faulty certificates can lead to cancellation and legal action. Direct or indirect canvassing also disqualifies you.

Send the prescribed form to The Registrar, Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Kolar Road, Bhopal 462016. Mark the envelope “Application for the post of Ombudsperson”; the university must receive it by 6.00 p.m. on the closing day.

If a form box is too small, use a separate signed sheet for the remaining information. Incomplete applications are rejected, and the university does not take responsibility for postal loss, misplacement or delay.

• Hear student appeals after other remedies under the regulations have been used.
• Examine complaints about examination or evaluation malpractice.
• Consider revaluation or re-totalling appeals only where a specific material irregularity or discrimination is identified.
• Seek help from an amicus curiae when hearing discrimination complaints.
• Work towards resolving grievances within 30 days of receiving an appeal.
