MCC Underground Drainage Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is filling Underground Drainage (UGD) Assistant posts through direct recruitment. The posts come from a state-wide pool of 477 UGD assistant posts that the Government of Karnataka has shared among its city corporations, following orders of the Directorate of Municipal Administration and the Urban Development Department.

The big point here is that this is a regularisation-style drive: only UGD assistants who are already working for MCC through an outsourcing agency can apply. If you have been doing drainage work for the corporation on contract, daily wages or through an agency, this is your route to a regular Group D post with a pay scale. Fresh outside candidates are not eligible.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Who counts as a UGD assistant: You must have at least two years of service in a city corporation under direct payment, welfare, daily-wage, contract, equal-pay-for-equal-work or outsourcing arrangements, and you must be working both on the date the recruitment rules came into force and on the date you apply.
• Wet-well and STP staff excluded: Outsourced workers posted at wet-wells or sewage treatment plants (STPs) are not eligible for this direct recruitment.
• No schooling needed: The post has no educational qualification, but you must be able to speak Kannada.
• Seniority decides priority: Appointment is limited to Mangaluru City Corporation, and priority goes by the seniority of your outsourced service with MCC, checked through your ESI and PF records.
• Health and fitness: You must be physically and mentally fit for Group D drainage work. The Chairman of the selection authority can reject a candidate based on the medical board's report.
• Reservation: Posts follow Karnataka's caste-wise reservation and horizontal quotas for women, ex-servicemen families, persons with disabilities, project-displaced families, rural candidates, Kannada-medium candidates and transgender persons. Appointment orders for reserved-category selections are issued only after the district caste-validity committee clears the certificate.
• Rural and Kannada-medium quotas: Rural quota means you studied Class 1 to 10 in a rural area; Kannada-medium quota means Class 1 to 10 in Kannada medium, each backed by the prescribed certificate.
• No influence: Any attempt to influence the selection through office staff or outside sources leads to disqualification, and false information can lead to cancellation and a criminal case.
• No guaranteed job: Appearing in the final selection list does not by itself give you a right to appointment; the authority can change the number of posts, relax or add conditions, or cancel the process.

Application Submission Notes

Applications are offline only. Collect the application form from the Administration Section of Mangaluru City Corporation, Lalbagh, M.G. Road, Mangaluru 575003, and submit it at the same office with the listed documents before 5:00 PM on the closing day.

To pay the fee, get a challan from the Administration Section, deposit the amount in the corporation's Canara Bank account, and attach the challan copy to your form.
