Gauhati University (GU) in Guwahati needs Water Supply Workmen for its Works Department, the team that keeps the campus water lines, pumps and plumbing running. The engagement is purely temporary and contractual, and selection happens through a single walk-in interview day at the university, with no written test and no online form.

If you have passed HSLC (Class 10) and hold a plumbing certificate from a recognised institute, you can walk in. Hands-on experience in water line management is a plus, but only if you can back it with a genuine certificate or document.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: You are engaged for one year at first. A renewal depends on a performance review by a committee the university sets up, and on whether the work is still needed.
• Contract pay: The pay is a fixed monthly amount for a contractual engagement, not a regular university pay scale.
• Proof of experience: Experience in water line management counts in your favour only when it is supported by an authentic document.
• Fallback appointments: If no qualified applicant turns up, the university keeps the right to appoint a suitable candidate as it sees fit.
• Schedule changes: Any change in the interview schedule is put up only on the Notice Board of the Administrative Building, so check it before you travel.
• No call letters, no travel costs: GU does not send separate call letters, and no TA/DA is paid for attending the walk-in.
