Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is engaging Senior Residents at its ESI-PGIMSR, Medical College & Hospital and ODC (EZ), Joka, Kolkata. Advertisement 09 of 2026 brings clinical, non-clinical and super-specialty departments into the same residency recruitment. Posts and Disciplines

• Non-clinical departments: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, Community Medicine and Pharmacology are covered.
• Medicine and surgery departments: General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiology and Radiotherapy are included.
• Critical care and child health: The notice includes the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Paediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Anaesthesia.
• Other clinical departments: Psychiatry, Chest Medicine, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology form part of the same intake.
• Super-specialty department: Paediatric Surgery is listed separately within the residency scheme.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: Your initial appointment is for one year. Annual renewals may take the total engagement to three years, including the first year, if your work is satisfactory.
• Previous residency: Time already served as a Senior Resident in a government institution counts towards the overall tenure limit. This engagement cannot be used to restart that period.
• Private practice: You cannot carry on private practice during this appointment. The Dean, Medical Superintendent or their representative assigns your hospital duties.
• Duty arrangements: Be prepared for emergency assignments and round-the-clock floor duty through shifts. Your department allocation does not remove those service requirements.
• Contractual status: Selection does not create a right to confirmation or continued employment. Either side may end the agreement with one month of notice, subject to the notice-payment provisions.
• Security deposit: Refund depends on completing the engagement and producing a no-dues certificate. If you end the contract before completing the engagement period, the deposit is not refunded.
• Accommodation: Hospital quarters depend on availability. The notice separately explains how accepting accommodation affects your housing allowance.
• Travel: ESIC does not pay travelling or daily allowance for joining or other purposes under this notice.
• Panel and intake: The panel may remain valid for three months after results, but the authority can cancel it earlier. ESIC may also change or cancel the notified intake.

Report to the Academic Block, second floor, ESI-PGIMSR & ESIC Medical College, Joka, Kolkata 700104 on the interview day assigned to your department. The reporting window is 09:30 AM to 10:30 AM; the notice excludes anyone arriving after the cutoff.
