TMC Project Research Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), through its Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCH&RC), Muzaffarpur, is hiring a Project Research Scientist (Non-Medical) on contract. The post sits under an ICMR-funded project that looks for the genetic predictors of local failure in margin-negative oral squamous cell carcinoma patients in India — in simple words, why some mouth cancers come back even after the surgeon removed all visible tumour.

This is a bioinformatics-heavy research role. If you have analysed next-generation sequencing (NGS) data from cancer samples, or you are comfortable with Linux, scripting and R, your profile fits what the hospital is looking for. TMC is a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: The appointment is first for six months, or until the project continues, whichever ends earlier.
• Project-linked: The post is tied to project account no. 5710; it is not a regular TMC position.
• Preference: Candidates with at least two years of proven experience in academic institutions will be preferred.
• Desirable work background: Whole genome, exome, transcriptome or targeted gene-panel sequencing analysis, and experience setting up an in-house bioinformatics pipeline.
• Age reference: Your age is counted as on the date of the interview, not the notice date.
