Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) is hiring a Data Entry Operator and Laboratory Technician for the Sentinel Surveillance Site at Veterinary College, Bidar. The contractual engagement supports the National One Health Programme for Prevention and Control of Zoonoses during the financial year 2026-27. You will work within the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology, where laboratory information and surveillance records support the same programme.

Posts and Disciplines

• Data Entry Operator: The role focuses on electronic records, analysis and programme reporting. It supports the flow of information between the surveillance site, its nodal officer and the departments using those findings.
• Laboratory Technician: The role focuses on enrolment, clinical information, sample collection and laboratory work. It involves coordination with designated clinicians as well as support for programme activities.

Post-wise Duties

Data Entry Operator

You will enter records into IDSP/IHIP and other project databases, then help compile and analyse demographic, clinical and laboratory information. Under the nodal officer's supervision, you will identify clusters or other significant findings and help share them with surveillance, animal-husbandry and other relevant teams.

You will also support training programmes, technical meetings and periodic reviews. This includes bringing together information for reports and plans so the programme team has an organised record of its work.

Laboratory Technician

You will work with clinicians on case identification and enrolment, collecting the clinical, demographic and epidemiological details needed by the project. Your sample collection and routine testing will follow the programme's protocols and the health facility's operating procedures.

The role also includes support for training, technical meetings and programme reports. You will participate in state and district zoonoses committee activities with the nodal officer and help organise the related work.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract approval: The engagement depends on permission from the funding agencies and KVAFSU from time to time. It does not create a right to a university appointment.
• Performance: The university may end the engagement at any time if the assigned work is unsatisfactory.
• Funding: Payment depends on the release of grants and the applicable NCDC terms, including revisions made under those guidelines.
• Benefits: The contract provides no provident fund, terminal service benefits, medical insurance or reimbursement, or leave entitlement. The notice also excludes a claim for an experience certificate.
• Travel: You must attend at your own expense. Travel and daily allowances will not be paid.
• Unfilled posts: The notice allows vacancies to remain open until suitable people are available. The authority can also cancel the scheduled interview without advance notice or reasons.
